1977 IMO Longlists, 20

Let $a,b,A,B$ be given reals. We consider the function defined by \[ f(x) = 1 - a \cdot \cos(x) - b \cdot \sin(x) - A \cdot \cos(2x) - B \cdot \sin(2x). \] Prove that if for any real number $x$ we have $f(x) \geq 0$ then $a^2 + b^2 \leq 2$ and $A^2 + B^2 \leq 1.$

Suppose that for every point $P$ on the boundary of $S$ there is a point of $L$ at a distance from $P$ no greater than $\frac {1} {2}$. Prove that there are two points $X$ and $Y$ of $L$ such that the distance between $X$ and $Y$ is not greater than $1$ and the length of the part of $L$ which lies between $X$ and $Y$ is not smaller than $198$.

A circle is inscribed in a triangle $ABC$ with sides $a,b,c$. Tangents to the circle parallel to the sides of the triangle are contructe. Each of these tangents cuts off a triagnle from $\triangle ABC$. In each of these triangles, a circle is inscribed. Find the sum of the areas of all four inscribed circles (in terms of $a,b,c$).

Let $n$ be a given number greater than 2. We consider the set $V_n$ of all the integers of the form $1 + kn$ with $k = 1, 2, \ldots$ A number $m$ from $V_n$ is called indecomposable in $V_n$ if there are not two numbers $p$ and $q$ from $V_n$ so that $m = pq.$ Prove that there exist a number $r \in V_n$ that can be expressed as the product of elements indecomposable in $V_n$ in more than one way. (Expressions which differ only in order of the elements of $V_n$ will be considered the same.)

Let $A$ be one of the two distinct points of intersection of two unequal coplanar circles $C_1$ and $C_2$ with centers $O_1$ and $O_2$ respectively. In tetrahedron $ABCD$, vertex $D$ is connected with $D_0$, the centrod if $\triangle ABC$. Line parallel to $DD_0$ are drawn through $A,B$ and $C$. These lines intersect the planes $BCD, CAD$ and $ABD$ in points $A_2, B_1,$ and $C_1$, respectively. Prove that the volume of $ABCD$ is one third the volume of $A_1B_1C_1D_0$. Is the result if point $D_o$ is selected anywhere within $\triangle ABC$?
