There are some real numbers on the board (at least two). In every step we choose two of them, for example $a$ and $b$, and then we replace them with $\frac{ab}{a+b}$. We continue until there is one number. Prove that the last number does not depend on which order we choose the numbers to erase.

The vertices of a regular $n$-gon are initially marked with one of the signs $+$ or $-$ . A move consists in choosing three consecutive vertices and changing the signs from the vertices , from $+$ to $-$ and from $-$ to $+$. a) Prove that if $n=2015$ then for any initial configuration of signs , there exists a sequence of moves such that we'll arrive at a configuration with only $+$ signs. b) Prove that if $n=2016$ , then there exists an initial configuration of signs such that no matter how we make the moves we'll never arrive at a configuration with only $+$ signs.

Let $u$, $v$, $w$ complex numbers such that: $u + v + w = 1$, $u^2 + v^2 + w^2 = 3$, $uvw = 1$. Prove that

$u$, $v$, $w$ are distinct numbers two by two
If $S(k)= u^k + v^k + w^k$, then $S(k)$ is an odd natural number
The expression$$\frac{u^{2n+1} - v^{2n+1}}{u-v}+\frac{v^{2n+1}-w^{2n+1}}{v-w}+\frac{w^{2n+1}-u^{2n+1}}{w-u}$$is an integer number. Given an integer $n\ge3$, prove that the set $X=\{1,2,3,\ldots,n^2-n\}$ can be divided into two non-intersecting subsets such that neither of them contains $n$ elements $a_1,a_2,\ldots,a_n$ with $a_1<a_2<\ldots<a_n$ and $a_k\le\frac{a_{k-1}+a_{k+1}}2$ for all $k=2,\ldots,n-1$.
Let $n$ be a positive integer. Define a sequence by $a_0 = 1$, $a_{2i+1} = a_i$, and $a_{2i+2} = a_i + a_{i+1}$ for each $i \ge 0$. Determine, with proof, the value of $a_0 + a_1 + a_2 + \dots + a_{2^n-1}$. Proposed by Kevin Ren.
Let $n$ and $k$ be positive integers. Given $n$ closed discs in the plane such that no matter how we choose $k + 1$ of them, there are always two of the chosen discs that have no common point. Prove that the $n$ discs can be partitioned into at most $10k$ classes such that any two discs in the same class have no common point.
Does there exist a pair $(g,h)$ of functions $g,h:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ such that the only function $f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ satisfying $f(g(x))=g(f(x))$ and $f(h(x))=h(f(x))$ for all $x\in\mathbb{R}$ is identity function $f(x)\equiv x$?

An underground burrow consists of an infinite sequence of rooms labeled by the integers $(\dots, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3,\dots)$. Initially, some of the rooms are occupied by one or more rabbits. Each rabbit wants to be alone. Thus, if there are two or more rabbits in the same room (say, room $m$), half of the rabbits (rounding down) will flee to room $m-1$, and half (also rounding down) to room $m+1$. Once per minute, this happens simultaneously in all rooms that have two or more rabbits. For example, if initially all rooms are empty except for $5$ rabbits in room $\#12$ and $2$ rabbits in room $\#13$, then after one minute, rooms $\text{\#11--\#14}$ will contain $2$, $2$, $2$, and $1$ rabbits, respectively, and all other rooms will be empty. Now suppose that initially there are $k+1$ rabbits in room $k$ for each $k=0, 1, 2, \ldots, 9, 10$, and all other rooms are empty.

Show that eventually the rabbits will stop moving.
Determine which rooms will be occupied when this occurs.
Prove that if for a real number $a $ , $a+\frac {1}{a} $is integer then $a^n+\frac {1}{a^n} $ is also integer where $n$ is positive integer.

An integer sequence $\{a_{n}\}_{n \ge 1}$ is defined by \[a_{1}=1, \; a_{n+1}=a_{n}+\lfloor \sqrt{a_{n}}\rfloor.\] Show that $a_{n}$ is a square if and only if $n=2^{k}+k-2$ for some $k \in \mathbb{N}$.
The real sequence $\{a_n|n=0,1,2,3,...\}$ defined $a_0=1$ and \[ a_{n+1}=\frac{1}{2}\left (a_{n}+\frac{1}{3 \cdot a_{n}} \right ). \] Denote \[ A_n=\frac{3}{3 \cdot a_n^2-1}. \] Prove that $A_n$ is a perfect square and it has at least $n$ distinct prime divisors.
Find all functions $f:\mathbb{N} \to \mathbb{N}$ such that for each natural integer $n>1$ and for all $x,y \in \mathbb{N}$ the following holds: $$f(x+y) = f(x) + f(y) + \sum_{k=1}^{n-1} \binom{n}{k}x^{n-k}y^k$$
Let $ A_0 \equal{} (a_1,\dots,a_n)$ be a finite sequence of real numbers. For each $ k\geq 0$, from the sequence $ A_k \equal{} (x_1,\dots,x_k)$ we construct a new sequence $ A_{k \plus{} 1}$ in the following way. 1. We choose a partition $ \{1,\dots,n\} \equal{} I\cup J$, where $ I$ and $ J$ are two disjoint sets, such that the expression \[ \left|\sum_{i\in I}x_i \minus{} \sum_{j\in J}x_j\right| \] attains the smallest value. (We allow $ I$ or $ J$ to be empty; in this case the corresponding sum is 0.) If there are several such partitions, one is chosen arbitrarily. 2. We set $ A_{k \plus{} 1} \equal{} (y_1,\dots,y_n)$ where $ y_i \equal{} x_i \plus{} 1$ if $ i\in I$, and $ y_i \equal{} x_i \minus{} 1$ if $ i\in J$. Prove that for some $ k$, the sequence $ A_k$ contains an element $ x$ such that $ |x|\geq\frac n2$. Author: Omid Hatami, Iran
Let $\{a_n\}_{n\geq 1}$ be a sequence with $a_1=1$, $a_2=4$ and for all $n>1$, \[ a_{n} = \sqrt{ a_{n-1}a_{n+1} + 1 } . \] a) Prove that all the terms of the sequence are positive integers. b) Prove that $2a_na_{n+1}+1$ is a perfect square for all positive integers $n$. Valentin Vornicu
A function $f$ is defined on the positive integers by \[\left\{\begin{array}{rcl}f(1) &=& 1, \\ f(3) &=& 3, \\ f(2n) &=& f(n), \\ f(4n+1) &=& 2f(2n+1)-f(n), \\ f(4n+3) &=& 3f(2n+1)-2f(n), \end{array}\right.\] for all positive integers $n$. Determine the number of positive integers $n$, less than or equal to 1988, for which $f(n) = n$.
